Perfume

Perfume is a techno-pop unit of three women. All of them are from Hiroshima Prefecture, and they are often called by their nicknames, A~chan, Kasyuka and Nocchi, rather than their full names.

Their hairstyles and makeup are different from each other and they haven’t changed it much since their debut, so you can easily tell them apart. This is also to help many people remember the group, and they haven’t changed their features intentionally.

Perfume has outstanding professionalism on the contrary of their cute appearance and goofy way of talking. Some people might recognize them as a relaxing and comforting idol group, but anybody will be surprised by their performance on a stage wearing high heels.

They dance for long periods of time while wearing high heels and sometimes they paralyze the senses of their feet with ice water to take away some pain. Men may not be able to understand how hard it is to wear high heels, but if you’re a woman, you can feel the pain of Perfume’s efforts.

The music is produced by sound producer Yasutaka Nakata, a genius who can write a song in half an hour, but there was some friction between him and the members when Perfume first started.

The members of Perfume had been taught that songs should be sung with your heart, but Nakata taught them the opposite. Moreover, Nakata touched up their songs with electronic sounds which may be frustrating.

Nowadays, the processed voice is one of the best things about Perfume, but before it was sold, I’m sure it was unsettling. The members of the band didn’t even know what techno-pop music was, and they were crying as they recorded it.

Despite the twists and turns, Perfume has made it overseas as one of Japan’s top artists, and their new song “Rebirth” was chosen as the theme song for the movie “Kaito-sou no Satsujinso no Satsujin”, and they are getting more and more attention. The song “Rebirth” is also a cool song, so please give it a listen.

I know it doesn’t make any sense, but…
It looks like the past Perfume sings the rebirth in each era for the present Perfume and helps the present 3 people seriously.
It’s easy to imagine that even when they don’t appear in the cut transition, they might be singing their rebirths in each era behind the scenes.
I think it’s the fact that the past efforts are actually connected to the present, even in reality, that makes this production so much more compelling.
I really think it’s the best. This music video.

I haven’t seen it in three years.
It’s still amazing, I thought.

My mom was sick and listened to FLASH a lot while she was in the hospital and got better. I have some medication but 90% of it is thanks to the three members of Perfume.
