Frederic” is a 4-piece rock band formed in 2009. Although the name sounds like a foreign artist, it is a Japanese band.

The band consists of Kenji Mihara on vocals and guitar, Koji Mihara on bass and chorus, Ryuji Akagashira on guitar and Takeru Takahashi on drums. There are two members with the last name “Mihara” and they are twins.

All the members are handsome, and Frederick has a huge following among young people. However, KEnji Mihara has an uncanny sense of humor, and his music is highly addictive and unique.

Take オドループ　”Odoroup”, for example. It’s a pop sound with a bit of an electronic feel to it, but it’s so fast and sexy that you’ll want to listen to it again and again. オワラセナイト”Owarasenaito” is similarly easy to listen to, yet highly addictive and new, and Kenji Mihara’s high-pitched, lovely voice goes well with the song.

While the music is mainly produced by his older brother Kenji, it is his younger brother, Koji, who does the artwork for the music videos and merchandise. He says, “I wasn’t able to compete with my brother in music for long time ago, but I was better at art than him, so I’ve been working on it.

In the music video for the song “Ninnki no Hanashi (Popular story),” he uses Koji Mihara’s illustrations to create a picture book-like world. Their sense of artistry is used to great effect, and it is clear that this is a band that is going to be active in multiple areas.

What’s more, the band has a mascot character called “Fredrick-kun”, a loose character from Kenji Mihara, who has a Twitter account and a LINE stamp. If you fall in love with Fredrick, you can’t help but know “Fredrick-kun”.

Frederick’s music and art sense is highly addictive. This is a band that is sure to have a lot of success in the future, so be sure to check them out!

So ALL their videos feature two unsmiling girls, and the band playing in various hallways?

I’m starting to really like Frederic, the only thing I dislike is the fact that there are probably tons of hidden meanings and symbolism to their videos that I don’t entirely understand. And that’s not even their fault, I’m just not that good when it comes to interpreting a meaning to something as abstract as some of their music. Loving all the music I’ve heard so far from this band, really makes me eager to go out and search for more music like this.
